Selfmade ASCII art

Wednesday, April 9th 2008 - 13:22
ASCII art is an artistic medium that relies primarily on computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the 94 printable (from a total of 128) characters defined by the ASCII Standard from 1963.

I love ASCII-art;-) and for those who want to create their own ASCII art, I recommend JavE. This is a free ASCII editor developed by Markus Gebhard. It's like a graphic editor for editing texts instead of images.

Features of Jave:
  • Freehand painting by mouse
  • GIF/JPG/BMP to ASCII conversion with multiple options
  • crash recovery
  • Free shape selection tool
  • Easy textbox editing (borders, move, rescale)
  • Export for multiple purposes
  • move/copy/mirror/flip/rot13/...
  • And many many more

  • Write the code (5 chars) you see on the picture to the textfield
